Greenlight / Redlight Your Network: Why Family is #1 and Everything Else is Noise
I have spent so much time discussing mechanics and systems but all those tools are useless without a purpose. And they are dangerously inefficient without the right “support system”.
You can have all the Bitcoin, the Real Estate, and the Money in the world. But if you are sitting alone in a penthouse, surrounded by people who secretly envy you or explicitly drain you, you are not rich. You are just a bank with a heartbeat.
Wealth amplifies who you are. It also acts as a filter for everyone around you.
Family is Number 1: The Non-Negotiable Asset
In the world of "Hustle Culture," gurus often tell you that you must sacrifice everything for the grind. They tell you to ignore your spouse, miss your children’s milestones, and isolate yourself to build your empire.
This is a lie!
No money, no career in the world.. literally nothing.. is more worth than family!
However, we must address a complex reality.
Your family is likely "different" from the new version of you.
You are talking about Blockchain; they are talking about savings accounts.
You are talking about Online Businesses; they are talking about job security.
You are taking calculated risks; they crave for safety.
It is easy to get frustrated. But you must understand the Data of Intent.
Even though their advice ("Get a safe job", "Don't move/relocate to XXX") might be "bad" for your business
and personal growth, it comes from a place of love. They want you safe.
Strangers want you to fail so they feel better about themselves.
Family wants you to be safe because they care about you.
Admit that Family is #1. Respect their intent, even if you ignore their advice.
Greenlight and Redlight Your Network
As a Director of Analytics, I constantly filtered data.
Good data went into the model; bad data was discarded.
You must apply this same rigorous filtering to your social circle.
I call this Greenlighting and Redlighting.
1. The Redlight (The Envy Trap)
Have you noticed that when you start succeeding, some friends get quiet?
Or they make snarky comments: "Must be nice to have all that free time," or "You got lucky with that Crypto thing."
These people are flashing Red Lights!
They do not admire you; they envy you. Your success holds up a mirror to their stagnation,
and they hate what they see.
Action:
Cut them off!
Emotional drag is the most expensive tax you can pay.
2. The Greenlight (The Win-Win Tribe)
These are the people who say: "My success is dependent on your success."
They understand that in the new economy, we win together. They share alpha, they share contacts,
and they celebrate your wins as if they were their own.
Action:
Invest in them.
"It is way more fun getting rich together then alone."
The "Both" Philosophy
The biggest limiting belief I often hear is: "Gilbert, I can only focus on my business, OR I can only focus on my family. I can't do both!"
You can do BOTH! In fact, you MUST do both!!
NO EXCUSES allowed!!!
If you fail in business, your family suffers financially.
If you fail your family, your business success feels empty.
You will do everything it takes to achieve a structure where these two coexist.
This is why we fought for the 100% Home Office.
This is why we utilize AI to automate tasks.
This is why we trade on Percentages to manage stress.
We build these systems specifically so we have the mental bandwidth to be present at the dinner table.
The More You Pay, The More You Pay Attention
I will leave you with one final principle that applies to both business and relationships.
Investment creates value:
If you invest money in a mentorship, you pay attention to the lessons.
If you invest time in your children, you pay attention to their growth.
If you invest loyalty in your inner circle, they pay attention to your well-being.
Do not be a tourist in your own life. Pay the price. Do the work. Make the move!
